Junior Golf Instruction Programs

Whether your junior golfer is just getting started or is looking to play competitively at the school level, our junior golf programs at Idle Hour Club are designed to teach kids in a FUN, fast paced learning environment. We offer several varieties of junior instruction programs highlighted below. Please choose the program that best suits your junior golfer, and let the FUN begin!

When your Junior signs up for their specific program, they will get a free hat (pictured below) for that specific golf program. When they wear their hats in and around the golf club, other children will see them and recognize which programs they belong to. If they don't know, hopefully it will encourage communication between them - to find out which program they are currently attending.

PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. Each team is captained by a PGA or LPGA Professional, who serves as the coach and is at the forefront of creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the game. PGA Junior League Golf utilizes a popular scramble format that creates a nurturing environment for learning and development - both on and off course.  With more than 2,900 teams and 36,000 participants in 2016 - and Ambassadors like Rory McIlroy and Michelle Wie -  PGA Junior League Golf has wide-ranging appeal for both youth and their parents.

Format & Rules
PGA Junior League Golf is all about the recreational and developmental nature of regular season matches, held between April 1 and July 31! During the course of one game, teams play four 9-hole matches in a popular two-person scramble format, reinforcing the team concept and creating a nurturing environment for learning the game. Coaches can also substitute players every three holes, so that all of the golfers on each team can participate.

PGA Junior League Golf is open to both boys and girls, 13 and under, of all abilities! The recreational nature of the regular season provides opportunities for skill and character development - on and off course - in addition to plenty of opportunities for fun, friends and family engagement with golf.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the competition really heats up! Beginning in August, 10-player all-star teams are assembled with players from all teams in the league, based upon the final standings.  These all-star teams then compete in sub-regional and regional championships for a chance to earn a spot in the PGA Junior League Golf Championship!
